While hopefully it does not happen, to anyone, if you drop your bike, it looks to me those smaller bars, MIGHT allow the bike to tip over to the point of the tires actually off the ground? Bot sure but that WOULD really make picking it up a lot harder. I had mustache bars on my sportster, and they are a good compromise, at least for me.

I do have a concern about them however. I have highway pegs on my guard. It looks like the chopped guard would severely limit the mounting of pegs. Of course they can be mounted, but I'm thinking of over all adjustability.

It's possible with the full guard too, but I think the scenario you present is unlikely. The bottom of the bar is where it would contact first, weather chopped or full, that bottom corner seems to be in about the same place. I imagine they would function pretty much the same.

Here's another thread I posted in about my chopped guard on my 2012 SG. I did lay mine over in a gravel (BIG rocks lol) parking lot and all is OK
