Don't let your painter tell you that you HAVE to buy Harley's Vivid Black, if they do, walk away. Harleys Vivid Black is just black.............Believe me I know. Whatever painter you go with, make sure he can apply clear coat very well. Whether this is a basic fundamental painting ability or not is beside the question, as you'd hate to get your fender back with a shoddy clear coat job. You won't be happy. And lastly, the majority of the time, you get what you pay for. Not always but most of the time. Make SURE you address satisfaction beforepaying forthe job.

And make sure he has experience painting MOTORCYCLES!! I realize this sounds like a no brainer... but I had a body shop guy paint my hardbags at first... (he had painted 2 friends custom cars)...and they turned out like CRAP... As Ultra said be sure he can apply clear coat well and ask how many coats he plans on applying... I asked the body shop guy and he said no problem on the clear, but you could see drips in it... and it wasn't buffed out... just a real sh1tty job... I then had my entire bike sprayed by a local bikepainter here... Tank, fenders, hard bags, side covers, and lowers for $1200.00.. I think it was a total of 14 pieces... and the quality is excellent...

One other comment, Black is Black it is not necessary to buy the moco's paint. It should have a coat of primer, then sealer, then 2-3 coats of color and 2-3 coats of clear, and dry in a clean environment. If done right it should simulate factory.
