Better Ride on the Street Glide
#11
Okay I'm willing to do a shock change but some of those are way out of my price range. I think I'm looking at somewhere in the range of 400 or less. What are the better ones in that range? I looked up Progressive and all the reviews can I have read or mostly pretty good and a roughly 350 price tag is and the right area.

Progressive 444's proved to be a decent upgrade on my '13 Road King

Ok, yea..the rear shocks, they are adjusted too high (number).. adjust down 10-15.. Second thing..Check your tire pressure (mine was too high, and I set mine down a couple pounds from suggested too) I'm still struggling to like the bike with it's horrible ride (mine is the 2021 Street Glide standard), and the prospective costs to improve it.. I'm looking at 13" replacement of some better grade, but then buying 1" lowering blocks (for the rear) to keep the original height.. then maybe fork spring set replacement. Let us know what you do, and how it goes.

I’m 220lb, ride solo, probably have 25lbs of additional bling on the bike, and set my ’20 Street Glide standard shocks at “2". Rides pretty decent until I hit a real bump. I was going to swap out with some 13” used take-offs, but those are usually around $300, or $550 new, and that just seems like a waste of money.
Probably going to put some Ohlins on the rear this winter. $650

Traded in the Road Glide for a Street Glide. I knew the ride would be stiffer for various reasons and I'm ok with it but the wife is having a hard time with it. We went for our first ride with it yesterday and I was surprised when a little over an hour in she said she was done because the ride was too stiff. What can I do to make it more smoother? It does not have the stock seat but I'm not sure what one is on it. I believe the previous owner had a tour pack on it because passenger part of the seat is the same type that is used on the Road Glides. It's flat and wide. She loves the seat. I checked the shock setting and it was almost cranked all the way up. Probably 17 out of 20 on the dial. So what can I do to make the ride a good bit smoother that stock that won't break the bank? I'm guessing shock changes would be the most likely thing to do. Would I do front and back? Just back? Help a guy out before the gets killed by the wife who loves to ride.
Here is a pic of it on my '21 Revival...........
...this route would be cheaper than new shocks and you both
will get a better, comfy ride............

For not much more cash you can get a good set of Bitubo Twin Action shocks from @DK Custom I had Progressive 412 shocks on the rear and switched to the Bitubo 13" that @DK Custom set up for my weight & riding style. Night and day improvement over the Progressive 412s. You won't be disappointed.
I've ridden some Progressive setups including the 944's. While better than stock, just about any aftermarket setup is. Comparably, the Bitubos/Hagons having a more tailored spring rate and damping/preload adjustability offer the ability to really find the sweet spot of the shock's performance capabilities. At $500 a set for the Bitubo's, IMHO they offer the most performance gains for the least money and the best value in this price range.
I'd urge you to consider getting to at least this level. Up from there, Ohlins RW, and many others at varying price points with excellent performance. The Bitubos are excellent value.
