Default Looking for grip recommendations

I am looking for new grip recommendations for my 2021 StreetGlide FLHXS. Curious if heated grips are worthy. I like the feel of Performance Machine grips, but unavailable if I go the heated route.

I just had the standard (plain) heated grips installed on my 2019 Street Glide Special. I'm in Ontario, Canada, and I can say 100% they are the greatest invention ever by mankind. Given you are in NJ would would have the same climate as me, so riding in the spring and fall can be damn cold at times as I'm sure you're aware. I can't recommend what grips you should get, but I'll never have another bike without heated grips!

You could check out Heat Demons. They go inside the bar so you can use whatever grips you want. I put them in a couple years ago and they work great so far.

Same on my RGS. Absolutely love them.

Agreed! I'm in ON as well and heated grips are the best and extend your riding season for us northerners. I won't own a bike without them. Even on the cooler mornings they're nice just to take the "edge" off till it warms up. Plus I can get away with using thinner gloves for better feel.

I've had the HD Kahuna heated grips on my last 2 bikes. Love the look and they work outstanding! Never need to go past 3 on the dial, even on the coldest days. Internally wired for a clean look. Available in all black or black/chrome.

"Curious if heated grips are worthy" Next to a back rest probably one of the best accessories to have on a motorcycle.

i put heated grips on my bike for the first time before the winter of 2020/2021. prior to that i was using heated gloves. last winter, i didn't use the heated gloves once. it was nice to be able to use the grips and thinner gloves. those heated gloves are some bulky ****'s.
if need be, i can use both, but so far it hasn't been that cold yet.

like others have mentioned, this is a must do mod if any future bike i buy does not have them.

Mine are finally due for replacement. I think I have convinced myself to do 10" bars, so i am going for the heated grips. I really like the stock grips, so that style will work great for me

Heated grips are definitely worthwhile, at least for me on Road King without fairing to keep wind off hands. As previously mentioned, the HD Kahuna model is set up to wire internally if that's a factor for you. Most other models of HD heated grips are not, though parts can be cut/modified and there's a youtube video showing the procedure to do so. Looked like a hassle and I liked the looks of the Kahuna grips so I went that route. If you do go with heated grips and have or plan to install aftermarket bars, make sure they're compatible. I had to have the left side of my Carlini Flying Apes reamed out at machine shop so the internal part of heated grip would slide into bar.
