I am thinking the vinyl seat without stitching to keep water out is the way to go and perhaps an ostrich or gator finish if possible but no stitching for sure. We get a LOT of rain here.

Smart move on no stitching. As that is what my solo is. I would advise to not get gel either. It will take about 700 miles to break in the seat.
