Default Hard lowers. HD or after market ?

I'm thinking of getting hard lowers for my 16 SGS. I see there are several after market options and HD. Any advantages of after market lowers over HD ? I plan to upgrade my stereo eventually and will add speakers in lowers. So far I see 3 options HD, Advanblack and HogWorkz. Is quality among all these 3 makes similar ? And are they vented for airflow ? TIA.

If I was going to get hard lowers for my Street Glide I would go with HD. I know you can get less expensive but with all the complaints I’ve heard about the others at different times the savings aren’t worth it.
For the little I use lowers for cold weather or rain I use soft lowers and am fine with that.
Good luck

I’ve had both, and I can tell you from a material standpoint, the HD version is more robust, not that I ever had an issue with the non-HD ones. Form, fit, and function between them was the same….

I have the H-D lowers on my King and a friend has the Advanblack. We both have '13 model year bikes so it's the older style lowers. The Advanblack is an ABS material and is slightly thinner than the H-D, The H-D calls the material GTX, which is a nylon composite and is a bit thicker and more rigid than ABS.

Absolutely no issues with my H-D in the 6 years I've had it. The Advanblack vent rattles a bit and sometimes sticks when opening or closing. Other than that, both fit good and look good.

I have Advanblack saddlebags and tourpack. No complaints. If I had it to do over again I would have gotten the TP painted but I am okay with black for as often as I use it.

"The Advanblack vent rattles a bit and sometimes sticks when opening or closing" ... Exactly the same as my OEM lowers have done since the day I bought the scooter in 2009

I used the xfmt brand(knockoff) from Amazon and was impressed. The vivid black matched my 2016 road king perfectly. The fitment and vents were both fine as well. The quality was pretty darn close to my buddies ultra factory hd lowers. I used them for about 6 months and sold them. I personally thought the heat was way worse on my legs so I got rid of them, but for that reason only not a quality issue. I also have that brand of king tour pack and am very pleased!

I’ve been running the color matched AdvanBlack lowers on my Roadglide for about a year. Color match was nearly exact, they are a bit flimsy but very functional.
Harley does not offer my color any longer for pre Rushmore bikes so after market was a good choice for me.
I have a review on the forum somewhere if interested.

I have been running Matazo (Chinese stuff sold on eBay) for 6* years. Only thing I did was replace the mounts and hardware with the hD parts, and changed the button doors to the HD ones that fold down and magnets hold the top.

no real complaints except the hardware they came with mine was kind low quality.

mare advanblack lowers vented just like H-D ? Just want to make sure so that they direct wind flow similar to H-D.
