I checked with https://mygarageventura.com/ and they had a lot of tires. That's where I got mine 2 weeks ago.

The claim is that there aren't enough dock workers to unload them. Too many people sitting at home still!

Then there's this.

"A supply-chain crisis has been brewing off the coast of Southern California for many months as massive freighters wait for dock space to open up. California ports in Los Angeles and Long Beach account for about one-third of US imports. "

"Some of the container ships have been waiting off the shore for weeks, pushing back delivery dates and driving up the cost of transportation. Of the ships waiting to dock, half of them are what Marine Exchange calls "mega-container ships" or ships with the carrying capacity of 10,000 TEUs."

So there seems to be lots of moving parts to this problem but one thing that looks certain is that this problem of supply and demand isn't going away anytime soon and is certainly going to fan the flames of inflation.

I wonder what happened to the massive port Mexico was supposed to be building to compete with Long Beach.

I will NEVER do this! Riding the twisty canyons of Southern California with a tire like that I would not expect to make it to the first turnout. How do you even get any kind of a bank angle?

Just NO.

Logistics. Truck drivers are getting paid more to sit at home and collect their Covid-bucks than it pays to drive. 2020 screwed up lot of things, but shipping logistics took a huge hit. Im not going to spout off about anyone's particular beliefs, but when you put 1/2 the country on lockdown and then feed them all sorts of benefits, the motivation to go back to work just doesn't exist. Dont believe me? Go drive thru any business or industrial area you find. NOW HIRING signs are everywhere. Sadly, entry and mid level jobs (that pay under 50K) are better off sitting at home doing NOTHING and often making MORE than they did when they were employed.
My wife is a manger of a large retail clothing store in the mall. She is well paid for her job, Id call it an 'honest' upper middle class salary for a hard working manager. She was getting paid 200 more a week from her COVID shutdown than she did when she was working. 200 bucks MORE to just sit home. My wife has an amazing work ethic and was going stir crazy during quarantine. She gladly gave up the extra 200 a week so she could get back to work. Not many Americans are like that. Honestly, you cant blame them. Why work when you can sit at home and watch cartoons in your underpants and still make as much money?

So you will park your bike until tires become available? Most touring bikes scrape hard parts long before reaching the edge of the tire. Everything in the Harley line, except for Sportsters, would need serious suspension upgrades to each the edge of the motorcycle tire.

Do you have a photo of your rear tire with the edges worn from the road?
