Default How hot is too hot?

I just got back from a short road trip. The first leg of the trip was all back roads, the second leg was all mountains and the third was all interstate. All togather total miles was just under 1,700. I kept a close watch on my oil temp because it was extremly hot averaging about 95 degrees in the middle of the day. My oil temp never got above 236 degrees on the first leg. Never above 226 on the second. On the third my oil ran up to 250 degrees on the interstate. I use synthetic oil and change it at 3k intervals. How hot is too hot though? Thinking of adding an oil cooler.

Nothing wrong with any of those temps for a TC..........cooler will drop them about 15 degrees

I installed a 10 row Jagg designed horizontal oil cooler w/adaptor and it makes a VERY noticeable difference. Don't have a oil temp gauge, but the heat coming from the engine is dramatically diminished....and I have 95", PCIIIusb, V&H true duals, etc., so it started out pretty cool. Have always run Mobil 1.

Money well spent and an easy install. Shooter64 (Bart) will give you a good price on the 2 peices.

synthetic oil doesn't start to break down until above 300*... hope you aren't that hot
