Default 10 inch Mini Apes on Ultra Limited... 1 inch or 1.25 inch

Good afternoon to all,

To start with I am new to HD forums so please excuse my ignorance as I learn the ropes here... With that said, I am looking for any helpful advice on changing my stock handlebars to 10 inch mini apes. Right now I am looking at either the Khrome Werks 300200 (1 inch x 10"), and the Khrome Werks 300400 (1.25 inch x 10"). Unfortunately no one has either in stock right now, but that is giving me time to research things out. My main question is what are peoples thoughts on the Pros and Cons of the 1 inch bar versus the 1.25 inch bar?? I like the looks of both and I am not against either. I like the look of the fatter bar, but at the same time it doesnt bother me that the wires are visible on the 1 inch barsince it is pretty much hidden by the fairing anyway. But I would like to know if anyone has any tips that may help me decide, any pros for one over the other, or cons?? The only thing I can come up with at this point is that "to me" it seems like it would be less intense and expensive to replace a broken control down the road (if that happened) if the wire is on the outside versus inside the bars. Any advice would be appreciated!
thanks...

I can,t answer on 1inch or 1.25 but are you sure you only want 10 inch. I just got my first Harley and it came with 16 inch bars was not sure about them, they are perfect for me, have you thought about 12 or 14 inch bars. The research i did seems like everyone wished they went higher

I’ve got 10” bars on a batwing like yours. I put 12s on first and switched. I’m 6’3” and real pleased with them.
My old shoulders are happier.

Oh, and I like the look of 1.25

Yeah I did think about taller at the beginning, but I sat on one at the HD dealership new me that had 12's on it and I didnt like my hands being over the fairing. I really only need to come up a couple of inches. I tried another bike that had 10 inch mayems on it and they felt just about right for me height wise. They looked cool on the bike but I personally like the classic curve style more for me. My main issue is trying to decide if I want to do the 1 inch bar and leave the wires on the outside just as the stock bars do, or if I want to go deeper into getting the 1.25 inch size and deal with the internal wiring. I like both ways and to me there are plusses to both. Just kind of curious if anyone else has opinions on it that I havent thought of. I know I have read a lot where people say the 1.25 looks better because it is beefier, and I agree on that. But I have seen pics of bikes with the 1 inch bar and they looked just fine too...lol... have read so much about bars I feel like my head is going to explode!!!! I am also researching seats too which is almost just as bad...lol

I think the taller you go you need a fatter bar so it will look properly proportioned. 1.25 on 10’s and 12s just “looks” right to me. But that’s just me.

nods I can definitely understand that point of view...that is kinda the mindset I have on it too.. I guess as dumb as it may sound, I tend to look at worse case scenarios a lot of times and wonder how much more of an issue it would be fixing or replacing something that might go bad if all the wires are internal..ya know?..

But I definitely like the look of the clean lines on the 1.25 size..smiles.. Biggest issue is nowhere has ANY in stock. JP Cycles told me today they arent expecting any in until mid September..

KST Six Bend Kickers. Internal wires. They have a great install video too.
