I was in an accident last summer and bent the set of1" Khrome Werks 12" mini apes on my Dyna Switchback. The bars were nicely made, but they were a little spindly. I replaced them with a set of 1.25" Khrome Werks 10" mini apes, with a 1.25" mounting area, requiring 1.25" mounts. The shorter thicker bars took out a noticeable amount of vibration I was getting with the 1" / 12" tall bars. Creates a much smoother feel on the hands.

Good afternoon to all,
To start with I am new to HD forums so please excuse my ignorance as I learn the ropes here... With that said, I am looking for any helpful advice on changing my stock handlebars to 10 inch mini apes. Right now I am looking at either the Khrome Werks 300200 (1 inch x 10"), and the Khrome Werks 300400 (1.25 inch x 10"). Unfortunately no one has either in stock right now, but that is giving me time to research things out. My main question is what are peoples thoughts on the Pros and Cons of the 1 inch bar versus the 1.25 inch bar?? I like the looks of both and I am not against either. I like the look of the fatter bar, but at the same time it doesnt bother me that the wires are visible on the 1 inch barsince it is pretty much hidden by the fairing anyway. But I would like to know if anyone has any tips that may help me decide, any pros for one over the other, or cons?? The only thing I can come up with at this point is that "to me" it seems like it would be less intense and expensive to replace a broken control down the road (if that happened) if the wire is on the outside versus inside the bars. Any advice would be appreciated!
thanks...

Lots of choices when swapping bars.
Sounds like you’ve got you heart set on Khrome Werks bars, but I’d encourage you to have a look at Wild 1 bars.
I recently swapped the stock bars on my ‘18 Ultra to Wild 1 1.25” hooked apes 10” size and I like them a lot. All internally wired, including heated grips, gives it a really clean look. Lots of folks advocate for going 12’s or higher, but at 6’ tall, I’m very happy with the 10’s.
I didn’t change the bushings and my bars are very solid. If I had gone with higher bars I might have changed them out, but with the 10’s they are solid with stock bushings. But I did need to get a set of wire extensions; brake & clutch lines remain stock.
This is my second set of Wild 1’s and I really like them.
I put some on my Road King and they still look like the day I installed them.....that was 14 years ago. Plus the guys at the shop are super helpful and were very patient with all of the questions that I asked. Give Wild 1’s a serious look....you might like what you see and what you want might even be in stock.
Good luck with your decision.

Ultra, I have internal wired 1 1/4 14 inch bars on my FLHT. I needed to replace the turn signal switch. I ran an eighth inch braided steel cable I got at the hardware store, starting at the opening at the bottom of the bars. Threaded it through easy as can be, because it's flexible, but stiff, if you follow me. Bent the end into a tight U shape, with the switch wires taped to it, and pulled it through. I honestly thought it was going to be a little difficult, but it turned out to be a snap. I kept the cable for future use, because it worked so well. Biggest "problem" was removing and replacing the outer fairing cap.

oh ok...that is something i handt thought about either that the thinner would vibrate more...thanks for telling me that. I am sold on the 1.25 size definitely now after everyones input. Now I just have to wait until someone gets them back in stock...everywhere is sold out until mid september at this point...

Booze hound,
not 100% set on the khrome werks...to be honest after the pics I have seen above and the info I really like the KST 6 bend kicker bars... You said you did the Wild 1's? Was that the WO578 model, because I think I did look at those and they are very similar to the khrome werks and KST bars I am looking at..
