Hello Forum. This is my first post - I hope it goes well.
I have a 1991 FLHS and I love it. One of the downsides is the really crappy saddle bag design with lids that fly off. I think the best way to fix the problem is to get the police bags that have a much better lid latch and hinge system. I’ve been looking for 85-92 Police bags for over a year everywhere - no luck.
so 2 questions :
1. Can anyone recommend a place to look for and buy 85-92 police bags ?
2. 93 - and newer police bags are widely available . Can I buy a pair of 93 / newer police bags and retrofit the lids and hinges on to my 1991 bags ? I know that the never bags won’t fit on my bike because of the battery location - but will the newer lids fit on my older bags ??

Until you find some drill a small hole in the front tab and put in a cotter pin or clevis pin. Worked so well for my I never looked further.

i removed those fugly hockey pucks, glassed the holes, satin black the lids (looks great with the po po emerald green) and installed draw latches to the front end of bag/lid. very discrete and keeps lid from flappin in the wind. McMaster Carr # 1889A22. $6.00 ea.
