Here’s a very nice bike that has super low miles and a low price to boot.

Test drive them all. if the dealer doesn’t let you take it on ample miles…minimum 20 to 50…on highways at speeds, etc., find one that will or rent one.
nothing wrong with a king, but I like all the protection from road debris, bugs, rocks, etc., that a full fairing with lowers gives you. Just me.
Don’t forget to tried a Road Glide…give the shark nose a look as well.

Nothing wrong with a King, but with a fairing bike it’s more comfy for the passenger as well, along with options for headsets/talking.

This. If you’re 100% sure that you don’t want the electronics, the the FLHT is one of the best bargains out there. I would pick this over an FLHR because the OP talked about mile munching and 2-up comfort. IMHO, the Road King with a detachable windscreen isn’t enough protection and you’ll probably wind up with an aftermarket Batwing anyway.

The MSRP on the Electra Glide is less than the Road King and it already has the Batwing. To me, that a done deal unless you REALLY want a Road King.

Interesting comments here. One thing I might add is not all touring models are equal from a suspension standpoint.

Ultra's (batwing or Road Glide), Electra Glide Standards and Road Kings have 3" of suspension travel.

Street Glides and Road Glides only have 2".

If comfort is what you seek you need to factor in two things

1) fairing (fixed or fork mounted) or none
2) 3 or 2 inches of suspension travel

We don't hit the road for more than couple hundred miles in any one day, usually a fair bit less. We love the RK.

BS. I’ve ridden a Heritage a across the US a couple times and enjoyed the hell out of it. If I rode 2 up, it would be a RK. If I wanted a fairing, radio and dashboard, I’d drive a damn car. No offense directed at those that enjoy a fairing. To each his own.

I have no desire for gps, radio etc.
I also did not want a heavier front end, hence no fairing.
I also like the ability to add a windshield, and take it off if I wanted to.
also everyone and their mother has a street glide and I did not want to be like everyone else.
