Default Changing air temp to oil temp gauge on 07SG?

Have only had the bike a couple weeks but am finding the air temp gauge about useless. Has anyone changed it over to an oil temp gauge and if so how much did it run ya and how hard to do?

Check this out

I haven't done the install, but I have read here on the forum that it is not difficult.

Good Luck.

It's not hard at all. I just did the Wally kit. It comes with the oil temp guage, sending unit and bushing for mounting in the extra tapped plug in oil pan, as well as a pigtail with a deutch connector that uses existing wiring for power. Do a search its been covered fairly well on this forum.

Do a search here and you'll get lots of good info. I bought the HD kit and it works fine, but if I had to do it again I'd go with the McEwan gauge, available from Wally's. Assuming you buy on-line (20%-off), the HD gauge still costs 20% more than the McEwan kit, although we're only talking $20 here. I ended up using the oil-pan-adapter method to install the sender rather than HD's more complex solution. If you have an '07, don't buy the oil-filter adapter. If you have the Premium Oil Cooler, you already have the adapter installed, and all you need to do is tee into one of the hoses. But I like the oil-pan solution better, and all that's required is a 1/8F-3/8M adapter available from Napa. Tip: I couldn't find it at Auto Zone or Home Depot.

Ijust helped a bud do the job on an 07 ultra. Bought the gauge thru the local dealer at 15% off and the brass adapter at the local napa store ran . We ran the wire down the left side frame tube instead of threading it under the fuel tank. Like someone else said in this post do not buy the filter adapter,$50 something that ya do not need to spend. Also have it installed in my 07 ultra works fine on both bikes. Went to Cape Cod this past weekend and both bikes were the same temp.
