Well add me to the list of FIXED!!
I installed the IDS this morning. I even pressed the bearing in myself..no probs.
Well just as everyone else said it's a different bike. No clatter anywhere, bike is smoother all around. No wonder the 08 guys aren't bitching.
Freaking awesome... it's an easy install, took maybe 2 hours. But be sure you have a 36mm socket for the rear axle nut. I didn't and the dang thing cost like 18 bucks..
Good luck guys!

RE: Isolated Drive System install
i ordered the ids from ft.myers florida harley on monday, took the bike down to them on friday for the install, waited 5 hrs. on the bike and they came out and told me they broke the part. said, the mechanic pushed bearing through back of sprocket while pressing it in........???? they never offered anything so after they washed bike, i got money back and called dealer in sarasota and ordered part again. oh well.......

RE: Isolated Drive System install
Just FYI, my brand new '69 Norton Commando had the same IDS ("cush drive" in Britt-speak)between blades on the rear sprocket mounting base and slots within the wheel-hub. Wasn't there to hide anything either.
ETA: The first applicationof "cush-drive" I found (Google) is a 1927 BSA (was crank-mounted way back then)....
No comment about oriental adaptation 60 years later - might embarass HD too.

RE: Isolated Drive System install
I think so. It didn't just fix the clatter issue, it smoothed out the entire ride.
You know when you first come off of a light and the bike would sometimes chugg at low RPM? Gone. Chugging is banned.
You don't have to givethe enginea lot of gas to keep the bike feeling smooth with the IDS on.
Goodbye running the bike at 3000 RPM to keep the ride smooth, hello 2400...just like all my other Harleys liked to cruise.

So, ya think this might be a good idea for those of us that are fortunate enough to not have all the noises?

RE: Isolated Drive System insall
IMO, THIS IS THE BEST $213.00 I COULD EVER SPEND ON A $24,000 BOX OF ROCKS. THIS IDS INSTALL TOOK CARE OF ALL THE ULTRAS CLATTER, CLAMMER, AND ALL THE OTHER CRAP YOU GUYS ARE WHINING ABOUT. BIKE RIDES LIKE A DREAM, NO MORE 3,000 RPM TO RID YOUR CLATTER. 2,300 FOR ME NOW AND SMOOTH SAILING FOR ME. SHIFTS LIKE A HARLEY SHOULD, UP AND DOWN. SO YOU GUYS WHO WANT TO WHINE ABOUT THE WHINING, GO RIGHT AHEAD.I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO NOW,LIKE RIDE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL WITH YOUR YOUR CLATTER BOXES.
