I always thought the Road Glide was "Harley's ugliest bike" and that opinion was shared by the majority of H-D owners/buyers.
Then I spotted an ad by a local dealership (back then they only advertised by model alpha codes, when I saw this bike, my reaction was "ugliest bike Harley ever made, AND in the ugliest color"
Long story short, My old bike was hitting 138k and I was looking at a fair amount of worn out "wear items". Winter, or what passes for winter in central NC, was here, bike sales were down, and the price on the FLTRi was reduced to the price of a Dyna Super Glide...
I pulled the trigger.
Yeah I heard riders call it "the FUGLY", and lament how the lights don't turn with the handlebars, and how the controls were "SOOOO far away" etc etc etc.
And it's true back then, you could ride a week, without seeing another Road Glide, while seeing dozens of batwings.

I'm still happy with MY choice, and @ 176,xxx miles (and climbing), I'll keep her

It seems the rise in RG started around 07 and just kept slowly growing. Most people follow the crowd and go safe. I noticed that when I switched to RG . As a few more went RG and latter RGU others found the courage to make the move .
I wonder if interest in the King of the baggers race grows , will it influence sales

The fact that HD now offers a RG, RGS, and RGL tells us all we need to know.

The RG platform has been selling very well and these days they’re very common to see. That wasn’t the case a few years ago.

So who has had the experience of riding each in the rain? Which one diverts the most rain away from you and your passenger?

I've ridden both in the rain.

The SG felt like I'd jumped in the deep end of a pool, the RG felt like I'd jumped in the middle of a lake.

I like the fairing on the Indian Challenger better.
