don't care what anyone explains, it's a $$$$ thing plain and simple, my hydraulic clutch acts no different 200mi into a ride sitting in traffic as it does when I pull away from my house first thing in the morning...

That's as good a guess as any, but I have doubts. If this were the case, wouldn't you think they all would have failed by now?

Also, not sure what the fuss was about the hydraulic clutches, the pull and the feel is not world's different from the cable clutches. Just a matter of getting used to and a tiny bit of difference. Btw, if you could not get adjusted to different clutches, or clutch pulls, or friction zones, you shouldn't be riding clutch actuated geared bikes and should move on the DCTs or automatic vespas. I guess, the very same people who complain or crib this way or that would be perfectly fine in either of the set ups. It was never about what the customer liked or arthritics of the base of the thumb or the fingers whatever. Seems like its about cost cutting and then buying influencing to keep the mob quiet.
It's been so long since I had a cable clutch. My previous ride was a 2011 Road King. Honestly, I don't remember any difference in the clutch pull. There may have been some but I don't think it was that much different that I could notice. The BIG difference I did notice was where the friction zone was and how much harder it was to keep the clutch lever at that point. It took a while to get used to that so that I was comfortable hitting it. To me, I'm glad we're going back to cable. Clutch adjustment can be done and you don't have to worry about changing hydraulic fluid. Also, I still have a bad taste about my Hydraulic clutch failing on me at less than 15,000 miles.

I’ve ridden my ‘14 Limited in some really hot temperatures, sometimes in stop-and-go traffic, and I’ve never experienced a failure of the clutch. Perhaps my bike is the exception. I do monitor the fluid moisture content and I do flush it when needed.

I read the reasons for doing away with the hydraulic clutch were because there were so many complaints about how hard the clutch lever was to pull in, people didn’t like that the friction zone was too far off the grip and there was no way to adjust it. Plus cable clutches are cheaper to manufacture.
Afaik is the hydraulic clutch the root cause for the oil transfer from gear to primary and therefore they revert back to cable.

Must be broken then - even my wife can pull the lever on my 2017 Street Glide.

Typical MoCo making things cheaper to please the bean counters.

My 2009 CVO has been simply perfect since new. Even with the upgraded clutch, no problems.

Simple really like many things HD just could not get it right. While many work just fine they had recalls and issues. Costly ones. So they gave up. Just like the rear fender tip light. So many had to be warranty they just dropped them.

Cost cutting measure and nothing else. HD has been taking away a little more every year. Just look at the cvo bikes especially the street glide. They can't charge more so the alternative is offer less and build cheaper.
