Default Brake Master Cylinder Sight Glass Falling Off!

Any suggestion for a quick fix or how do you replace this part? I see there's a part number available online, but how do you install it?

SIGHT GLASS KIT, MASTER CYLIND 42854-06

I noticed brake fluid dripping on my bike and found this sight glass came off. Anyone knows what to do?

Replace the master cylinder. I doubt you'll get a new sight glass to seal up.

Had the same issue... 2011 Road Glide front master cylinder sight glass randomly came out. After reading this post, I opted to do the replacement (part# 42854-06) and it seems to have worked well so far, I'll update if that changes. My local shop had it on hand for $10. I believe that the main problem was that the plastic on the old one became brittle and weak. Plus the o'ring was sloppy. The new one had a nice (very tight) fit. Had to use the back end of a screwdriver and a hammer to tap it in.

My sight glass started leaking on my Limited and I bought a replace sight glass from the dealer. The install went well but I never could get the leak to stop. I filed down a dime to fit the hole and used JB Weld to epoxy the dime in the hole. No more leak and I never looked at the sight glass anyway……problem solved.

I like that idea, makes sense just to seal the hole... I never use it either. I bet one could find a rubber plug or something that would seal it of good as well.

Hey Cobra1,
I am in the same boat. I just wanted to follow up and ask if that fix is still holding up?

From the Sportster section, maybe this will help.

FWIW, my M/C has no sight glass, and has not been an issue for 34 years now.

Any reason not to just JB Weld the sight glass rather than fabricating a plug?
