2021 GTS Apple Car play "Hack"
#21
Normally (without the jumper/hack) CarPlay requires the headset to be plugged in to be operational. Now with the jumper/hack in place, it's the opposite and will not be there.
So going back & forth from no headset to using headset, one would have to remove the jumper/hack. Too time consuming as the fairing needs to come off to access. Hence a switch to make it quick & easy.
That's my situation & take on it at least.

With the jumper permanently in place it renders them useless.
Now I have the option…as Lefty said. Thanks again for the idea!!

As I understand, he like me, wants to use CarPlay when he plugs in his wired headset as well. With the jumper/hack in place, CarPlay works perfect...but plug in the wired headset and CarPlay stops working.

But if I'm not mistaken, you should have CarPlay accessible "because" of the WHIM.
As I understand, without the jumper, a headset needs to be plugged in...or wireless connection, in order for it to be activated.

The reason this hack works is it fools the GTS into thinking a wired mic is attached…it jumpers pins 4 & 5 on the WHIM connector (gray plug behind the radio).
This shorts the front headset Right & Left + signals together…so it must be removed if you want to attach a wired headset (or a Sena Freewire) at some point in time.
The switch option posted previously is a brilliant option…you only have to open the fairing once, but I would use a connector on it just to exclude the possibility of contact pin corrosion down the road.

I cannot answer that..as I don’t know if anything changed from 19 to 21… but on my 19 limited… no download. I do have the latest software on my GTS…but that’s it.
