I have to agree, the instructions $u*ked. They weren't oo bad after i installed it, and looked back. Then it was too late. They must've had a madman write them.

The tourpack mounting kit goes on along with the backrest mounting kit. They use similar pieces, but add an extra mounting nub in the back. Then you can switch between tourpak and sissybar. Hope that helped.

Hell's foundry makes a great rack for the garage to store all your docking pieces too.

I just purchased a rack off Ebay for my detachable tour pak. It looks very similar to the one Hellsfoundry sells. It is scheduledto arrive tomorrow.

So do you mean that if I use the hardware for the tourpack mouting kit it will take the backrest as normal, then later, when I buy a tour pack that works (of course)

But not the other way around? So buying the mounting kit for the backrest cannot take the tour pack later?

Please confirm

SoCalRyder..it looks like you are missing the little flat stock piece that connects the two docking points...could be wrong though.
You are correct, he is missing the 2 brackets that come with the Detachable Backrest Kit, Part # 53805-99 that you install with the docking kit. I don.t know why they don't include them in the docking kit.Like you stated, those brackets need to be installed as they connect the 2 docking points together and gives them additional support.

I put boththe backrest and tourpack kitson my RK last week, the directions are horrible. I ended up using the blow-up pics and that seemed to work out much better. Take your time and it will work out.

Did you need to use two different docking kits or can one kit cover both the backrest and the tour pack?

I have ordered a new SG and am having the backrest fitted...may want to buy a tour pack later so dont want to duplicate the hardware if it is not necessary.

NICE car by the way!
