I would never run one in my GM vehicle or a Ford, but Dodge, small engines (from weed eaters to generator), Natural Gas compressors, airplane engines (some prefer ACDelco), most outboard engines, and lots of other things all prefer Champion plugs. Engines do have their preference.

I can't speak for Flyer903, but for may part... I wouldn't use Champions Copper Plus plugs in my cars/trucks either...

And NOT because I am being hypocritical...

It takes me maybe 10 minutes, to include getting and putting away the tools, to change the spark plugs in my Harley engines..

I have to remove the intake manifold on my V-6 Jeep, to change the plugs on the driver side bank of that engine... That Jeep has, and will always get, Iridium 100,000 mile plugs...

In fact, all my cages, with all the emissions, computers, hoses, lines, etc... are a major pain in the butt to change plugs... They will all get the long life plugs when the time comes...

Now, if I still had my old '67 Mustang HiPo 289, I would use Champion plugs if there was a Copper Plus plug in the proper size/heat range for that application... Or any other brand copper plug for that matter...

Run whatever plug you feel gives you the best performance, & endurance... but IMHO it's naive to think that given two plugs, with similar design, manufacture, and specs, one will "boost" your performance over the others... not in any street driven application anyways..

While it's possible to have a badly made plug... poor manufacturing tolerances, and/or substandard metal/porcelain components, I've never seen a report stating, or claiming that Champion Plugs use any substandard components or have substandard manufacturing processes/specs, than any of the other plug makers... I would be willing to learn if someone could point to a source that tested and shows just that...

Instead, all the "evidence" that Champion Plugs are substandard, that I have seen to date, is pure anecdotal information, or "my friend who's a great mechanic/racer/engine builder says so".. purely "Ford is better than Chevy" opinion...

I have no affiliation, and no real attachment to Champion Plugs, other than they are inexpensive, easy to find, and work very well in my Harley engines...

OEM parts suppliers, whether tires, plugs, etc. usually mean they were the lowest cost bid, not the best product available.

Like which brand or type of oil to use, people have strong opinions on the best spark plugs to use. Its usually based on anecdotal experience, or something they heard or read. It's all good.I don't have a preference for brand, but I do replace like for like. Copper for copper, Iridium for Iridium, but that's just me.

I did replace my OEM HD plugs on my bike, I had a choice of Champion or NGK. I bought NGK, because they were on sale. I have a confession, not only do I not use synthetic, I don't use HD brand engine oil either, just plain old Castrol 20w50 Motorcycle Oil since 2006. Yeah, I'm a rebel like that
Gaps are usually preset though they should be checked and even if the indie tech set the gap it would have anything to do with the ceramic tip breaking. I wish I had taken some pics but I didn't so here's a pic I pulled from a search.

The electrode on the plugs were fine, the tip on #3 was gone completely and half of the ceramic was missing on another tip. BTW the cost were 8.99 per plug
