I can't believe we've gone 20 posts over 2 days and no one has mentioned C&C seats.

C&C is a great option and they will work with you to create a custom seat if you desire, both in terms of appearance (there are many many options) and comfort (gel, no gel, backrest, no backrest, exact seating position, etc). The point is C&C will work with you to create something just for you.

They're worth checking into if you haven't already made a decision.

I just ordered the Saddlemen Pro Series SDC for '18 RGS. I've read a few reviews and watched several videos. You can customize the stich colors, add gel to the rear seat if you like, and add a backrest. I think the passenger seat may be smaller than stock but with the added gel, it should also be more comfortable.
I called them and got a much better price on the phone than on their website. Also, they do offer a military discount.

Love my Corbin touring seat and liken it to a saddle for a horse. Perfect for her and me. I also have a Danny Gray solo seat that gets little use as just not as comfortable.

Styling, This is typically important to most. cool not what everyone else has
My experience is limited to just the stock Road King seat and my current Mustang Lowdown solo with separate passenger seat. It checks all of the above boxes.

1) It is lower by about an inch. More importantly it is narrower at the front so I can put my legs more straight down rather than out.

2) It is much firmer than the stock seat, but more supportive. I have the version without a backrest, but the shape of the seat does give you some lower back support. You can order one with a slot for a removable backrest if you want.

3) I have the solo version but they make a one piece 2-up seat. I rarely have a passenger, but there are 3 options for a passenger seat - narrow 8”, medium 11”, and wide 14”. I bought the medium.

4) Looks / style is really subjective. I think my seat looks good on my bike. I got the plain solo seat and black studded passenger seat to go with the styling of the Road King and my studded passenger backrest.

Thanks to all for this thread. I'm a new member but long time rider. I'm about to upgrade from a 2009 FLHX to a 2021 FLHTK. The stock seat on the new Ultra puts me too close to the tank at 5' 11". My Street Glide came from a private party with 2 seats. The one I like best is a seat I don't know who makes, maybe HD and I have a seat for guys with less inseam like the original owner. I recently bought an HD low profile 2 piece seat for my Street Glide and it just didn't feel right so my lucky son-in-law got a free seat. I once had a VTX-1800 and could never get a good seat. Even the $750 Mustang didn't work.
I'll keep watching this thread and as stated above, its all so very personal.

Mustang gets my vote as well. I have a Solo w/ back rest. It feels like I'm flying down the road in a recliner.

I'll add my thoughts, I had an Ultimate seat, and loved it on short rides, then i took a long ride, and couldn't wait to get rid of it, didn't want to get back on bike at stops, on my way home. I have a Mustang super tour, better, for me but seemed wide part put pressure on the back of my legs , at edges, Corbin dual tour now, has been my favorite, to this point, firmer, but shapes over time , i can ride farther than any seat i've had, Just goes to show ya, everyone is different, good luck in your search, it is expensive, and can be frustrating

I finally replaced my stock 2001 RK seat with a Mustang solo with backrest.
Honestly, at over 20 years old I think almost anything would be an improvement!
It is certainly a better seat, and the back rest is absolutely a game changer for my aging lower back.

Years ago I got a big "poofy" Harley double/two-up seat with detachable passenger back rest. That was when my wife said she wanted to ride with me... I don't like that one-sits me way high up. I think that got used maybe ten times.
