Make sure the tire pressure and shocks are correctly adjusted.

I had to threaten the wife I was going to quit taking her with me. (many years ago thankfully)
She was forever trying to look around me when stopping or parking lot maneuvers *&^Y%$
We finally got her to where any thing under 20 mph she sat perfectly still and remained perfectly aligned with me.
She did learn to turn her head with out dropping a shoulder and leaning any.

Eventually also told her even at speed if you gotta get your panties unwadded or something some how let me know Before you start moving around!!!!

She ended up being an excellent passenger and we covered a good many miles together.

Like someone else said. Easier for me to be upright and stable when she gets on. I also hold the front brake. Same when she gets off the bike. Mine always gets off bike before I back up in a spot.

Here is a good 2up thread. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...ng-advice.html

Tell your passenger to adjust her position when you’re under way, not when you’re stopping.

I always mount first, my wife asks if I’m ready, I hold the bike straight up, she steps on the passenger peg and gets on. I can barely tell if my wife is there, unless I’m going too fast, or she sees a deer. I can expect a jab in the ribs either way.

Trunk removable? I'd leave it at home for the first
couple rides if possible. If not just do it, you got this!

As stated already by others, make sure your passenger doesn't start moving around as you some to a stop, it can really disrupted the bike and your balance. The only other thing I do differently with a passenger is not use the front brake as much when moving slowly.

I always tell my passengers to hold on to my belt loops, just relax and quit trying to steer me with my shoulders.

If you want your wife to ride with you regularly her creature comfort is pretty important. A saddle that she will it on comfortably and the ability to lean back on a sissy bar/pad will ease the fear of going off backwards on the bike. You can put docking hardware and a sissy bar/pad to match, then you can take the sissy bar/pad off for solo runs.
