Default Mustang Touring Seat...Looking for advice!

So I bought a used standard touring Mustang seat over the winter and finally just had a chance to put it on my Road Glide Ultra. 30 years, I've never had an aftermarket seat on ANY of my rides. Always had stock seats.
I first tried my stock seat, which I was happy with except for the *** burn I would get after about an hour in the saddle. I was so excited to try the Mustang but when I sat on it, I couldn't believe how stiff it was. Not to mention it actually sits me up and forward about an inch. I'm thinking this is because it is so stiff, I can't sink down into it.
I knew it was going to be stiff but this thing is hard as a rock. Just wondering what everyone's experiences are with these seats. Is this something I should expect to get used to? Does this stiffness loosen up eventually? Does the stiffness benefit you on longer rides?
I'm not giving up on it just yet. My wife and I will sus it out as we get further into the riding season but honestly, I have to say, we both like the stock seat better right now.
Good news is I didn't pay a lot of money for it so I can always sell it for what I have into it.
Thanks in advance!

Yes they are kind of stiff but I like the L shape compared to a curve. The curve is what hurts the tail bone, burn as u described. I have the super touring and it sets me back a bit from stock on the older frame anyway.. id like another one for my 02 but have thought of trying something different as to find one shaped like it but more plush.

I bought 1 last november . I had the same response. I have gotten used to it. I do like it for long rides.

Mustang makes a great seat. I run them on both of my bikes. The SG has a Mustang Super Solo w/ a pillion I add for a passenger when I have one. The seat puts me up about an inch and back about 1.5 inches. It's more firm but does break in a little, not much though. The firm feeling is better because if the seat is too soft, you'll sink in and that's where the butt burn comes from. Limiting blood flood, or just bottoming out in the seat and riding on the pan.

Seats, like handlebars, are super subjective. What one may like, another may hate. So I can't say that seat is the best option for you, but if it's comfortable, you'll get used to the firm feeling, and know that it is designed to be that way on purpose. The other thing about the Mustang seats is the pan itself. It is fiberglass and very rigid, so it does not deform over time in the saddle, so the seat you feel is how it will always be.

You'll find the Mustang seat to be a little stiff , but over time it will soften up . I've had them on my last 3 bikes , the standard I'm using now will let me ride all day without any aches or pain , love it .

Really need about 750-1000 miles of break-in time.

I found that stiffer seat is more comfortable over time. Love my Mustangs. I have had Corbin’s as well, loved them, but they are really hard at first.

I just bought mine too, the hot spots that my other three brands had are not there! I rode about 130 miles the other day and didn't notice any pain like I had with my others and think it can only get better. I tried Harley solo, Sergeant solo and Saddlemen solo and they all gave me tailbone and sit bone pain.

Running the Mustang Super Tour Solo on a SG. Bought for the reasons you posted, and it does exactly that. I had my stock seat on recently as comparison and the Mustang is just the more comfortable seat to me, hands down.

Give it an honest 500 miles and you'll never go back. That firmness is what keeps you from developing 'hot spots' after you've been in the saddle for a while. The softer seats feel great initially, but they create those hot spots where the cushioning collapses.

When I bought my first Harley back in '04, I went through 8 or 10 different seats before settling on the Mustang Wide Touring. From that bike on, my very first purchase was a Mustang seat for each of them.

My new-to-me 2011 FLHX-103 wasn't in my possession for more than 24 hours before I ordered a new Mustang Low Touring for it.
