Sandpaper wrapped around the filter, use a strap wrench, or the screw in the end with the harley tool with the cutout.

The filter is not stuck because it was too tight (I have used a wrench to snug a filter on for 50 years with no stuck filter yet) it is stuck because the gasket was dry when the filter was installed.

After getting this one off buy this one. I have a 2005 EG and have used this on every change. Never ever a problem. You will be glad you did. Plus a GREAT product IMHO anyway.

My First Harley was an 01 Road Glide and the first time I changed the oil in t I swear some one put the dam filter on with an impact. I tried al the ways you mentioned and what I ended up doing was destroying the filter leving the metal ring still screwed on the adapter to the block. I had to remove the adapter from the engine case and use a hammer and punch to drive that ring off. It sucked. Hope you have better luck than I did.

Oh yeah...and once you get it off, clean the mating surface well. And put oil on the gasket of the new filter. And don’t over tighten it...

End cap oil filter wrench has been the answer for me... the Electra Glide is very congested around the oil filter, makes it next to impossible to get channellocks on it or do the screwdriver trick, and difficult to use a regular oil filter wrench.

I used Channellocks on 99% of my oil changes. If that doesn't work, the Strap wrench is a good back up. But, not on my 15 Limited, the Harley end cap filter wrench is the only way I could in there without making to much of a mess or scratching paint. Hand tighten back on. Always lube the gasket, but I learned over my long life, sometimes they are just hard to get off.

Doesn’t help the OP.. But, I really liked the K&N with the nut on the end. And thankfully it wasn’t a 10mm.

I have seen a few bikes in you years range with filter stuck on really hard.
When I got to where I was sure it was going to be a real struggle, I would pull the voltage regulator and have plenty of room to get better leverage.
Weather it be channel locks or whatever used to remove the filter.

Drag filters have the nuts on them as well. Alot of indy's keep them.
