Default New handlebars

I just purchased a 2009 Electra Ultra with stock handlebars. I’m looking to go with 12” bars. Can anyone tell me if I need to change brake line, clutch cable and extend wiring? I’m trying to get all the parts together before I start.
Also thank for the add.

Yes, the stock lines will be way too short

I just installed 12" bars on my Street Glide. But I have hydraulic clutch. I just just barely enough room. I had to reroute the lines to make them fit but the wires needed to be extended. That said, because of the different system, it's possible you may need to change your cable. Wish I could have been more clear.

I figured the cables and brake line would be too short. Anybody have an idea of how short? I want to make sure I get the right lengths

What bars are you looking at getting, as in brand of 12 inch bars? Hill Country Custom Cycles does a lot of installs and they can tell you exactly what you'll need for what bars you get on your bike.

I’m hoping that someone who has swapped stock bars for 12” can tell me how much over on the stock length of cable/ brake line everybody went.

I already have the bars. In hindsight I should’ve went with the pre wired. Live and learn I guess

I installed Yafee 12" bagger bars on my 2012 ultra last year. All wires need to be extended, longer clutch and brake lines too. I orderd my lines from Magnum cables. You want to be able to have plenty of play when front is maxed to left and right. I followed the stock routing of the cable lines which go in front of the neck. Also you need change the handlebar bushings to polyurethane. The taller bars need the firmness of the poly bushings. The wire extending is the longest and most critical part of the entire process. Take your time and take pics before you unhook the connectors. there are small # on each connector corresponding to to color coded wire. if you have a service manual it would help a lot too. they oter option is to purchase the plug and play setup from here.

Not necessarily.

When I changed my 08 to 12" I needed a 4" on one side and 6" on the other. Plus you have to get wire extensions.

To the OP. Call Magnum Shielding, Like actually call them. They will walk you through exactly how to measure for them. They have kits with wire extensions. I ordered and installed the bars first so that my measurements were accurate.
I ran mine internal and soldered all the connections myself. Time consuming but more peace of mind than a push together connection.
