Custom Shifter rods,, any ideas??

Well after looking at some of the prices for custom shift rods I decided to make my own.I am more concerned about the strenght rather than looks right now.
I ordered the majority of parts from Mcmaster-Carr for about $40.
9/16 dia. 303 SSground rod,2-5/16 303 SS rod ends and 5/16-24 threaded studs.
All I need to now is part off the rod and drill and tap the ends.If I want to get fancy I can do some milling and engraving but I think I will wait .

My buddy made a couple a while back and brought them over for me to polish. He gave me the bar and shield one for polishing out his Softail one. He's making me another that I designed.
