Humidifiers really for the most part when it comes to Cpap machines are a comfort addition. Some folks just find it easier to use with the added humidification to the machine. It also does help some since higher pressures can tend to dry out nasal passages on some folks.

I travel with mine extensively with no problems. Puritan Bennett Goodknight 420G is one of the most compact machines. Very durable.

I have a traveling cpap, small , weigh about 1 lb, travel with on the RK over 1200 miles with no problem fit nicely in the saddle bag, same maching as Mariner 227
