so,with the drive by wire on the 08 touring bikes how are we going to change handle bars?already know cutting and soldering want work because of the resistense values going through the wires.

 

I'm sure they will come up with a way .. otherwise how would they sell all those bright, shinny new chrome replacement bars? Time will tell.

 

The added resistance of a few inches of wire is negligible.

 

I'm sure that some crafty individual will come up with a plug and play extension of some kind.... just hang on.

 

Or...it *will* matter and they are locking '08 owners into dealer service.

Now *there* is a frightening thought...

 

This is exactly what they are doing, they are following high end automitves lead. Make the bike so brand specific that any mod requires their techs, their parts, their service. They get the money.

But in the end, crafty shade tree dudes will win with work arounds.

I give the drive by wire problem 6 months and someone will have a fix to make it work on any aftermarket bar.

Anybody have an 08 manual care to chime in how the thing works??

 

They already have longer harness available in the 08 catalog with other bar options too. Now if you plan other than hd parts you might need something different.

 

i saw the part number for the wire extension kit but no picture,how long,or how it fits.
