RE: 2008's "Theyre in the basement"
I keep reading these posts and i cannot see a dealer keeping inventory away from people when they may want to buy it. Now if they had a BUNCH of 07 inventory then they are going through it and floating in 08s from time to time. Technically 99% of the people coming in the dealership do not know the 08s are out... it is in there best intrest to slowly roll new inventory in. If there floor has spots and no more 07s TRUSt me they will be putting 08s out. they are not gonna purposely not put them out to move 07s. It makes ZERO sense. empty spaces could mean a less sale.
probably most people are talkin to salesman that do not knwo they are full of 07s still to rotate in 08s.

I travel for my job and found 2008s in Atlanta at one dealer while another dealer told me they would not be out until Aughust. While at my local dealer the same weekend, they received a few 08s, the box,s had notations on them do not deliver before July 12.
My wife found us a new 08 Road King in Denver and we picked it up the next day. The Bikes are out there however many of the dealers we contacted while we were looking for the 08 told us they were not available. My guess is that we are fed mis-information in order for the dealers to sell their older inventory.

They had several 2008's and a aniversary 2008 Ulra classic with a sold sign on it. The tank looks wider but I like it. If somebody wants a 2008. There out there. The copper and black looks good.[/left]

I was in three dealers last week. One had 2 '08's on the floor surrounded by '07's. They claimed they hadn't received an '08 Ultra yet. The second dealer had almost every '08 model and anniversary version on the floor. The third, I believe the one that was referred to in the original post had 0 on the floor. Was told by the salesman they hadn't received any '08's despite the fact there was one parked outside the service area. Other dealers in the area have them on the floor. Must be one of those sales strategies I don't understatnd.

Just got back from my dealer - had at least 5 08s on the floor - looked at a 105th edition Ultra - very sharp! At any rate - they are here, at least in limited numbers.
Put my deposit down for a 105th Ultra - gets here in Sept. Hope the Ol lady don't strangle me B4 then.

Dealers are in the business of selling bikes. It is ridiculous from a business standpoint to hide the new models "in the basement" until the old models are sold.
The best way to sell '07s is to have the '08s create interest and get people in the showroom. Low financing and/or discounts will make the '07s attractive to a real buyer. Or they buy an '08. Sounds like a simple business plan to me.
