Default 2008 touring gas tank..holy-hello

I saw the new gas tank on an 08 SG yesterday.
It's aweful. The proportions are all wrong. It runs too far down closer to the heads, and it's pretty wide. You could land a plane on it.

I usually like HD's improvements; however,this isn't one I'm digging.

I'm alone aren't I?

(no offense to my bros with 08s)

haven't seen one yet, and definitely can't afford to trade upinto one. Regardless, for way too many years the H-D fuel capacity has beenlacking. whether is was my ole 76 AMF Sporty and panicking at 90 miles, or now panickingat 170+ miles on the 0le Geezer Glide. For me, I'll take a few more cruising miles over looking good on the kick stand most days.

I guess that is until (and if) the ole prostrate some day prevents me from riding more than thirty minutes at a clip. I guess when that happens, that new bulbous fuel tank will really look too big.

I like the way it looks, and would REALLY like the extra miles Icould get before I would have to stop.

But I still ride my 03 RoadKing with its 5.0 gal tank....

Looks good but it kicks your legs out further making braking and shifting a little awkward. I can see a bunch of floorbroard spacers being sold soon.

I don't mind it, and I thought I would hate the look.

You know, someone brought up a real good point not to long ago about the extended mileage you get from the new 6 gallon tank's. If your riding alone, fine, all good. But if your riding with a group or anyone not on a new dresser, their stoppin' for gas and guess what? so are you. Just a point..........Rich

That'sall well and good, but I need to know, will the 6-gallon tank move me forward an inch and higher an inch on my Mustang Solo? [&:]

I've seen this line of reasoning in other threads and simply don't get it. More miles is more miles. I don't always fill a tank, ride 175 miles, and stop at the station again. Often, I fill a tank, ride, go home, ride another day, etc...
