A buddy of mine just purchased and rode his CVO RoadGlide out West and when he returned his washed his bike but the blacked out paint was stained. Dirt will not come out and his rear view mirrors went from gloss to flat. Is any one else seeing this and if so have any suggestions.
Have another buddy just bought a 2020 Ultra blacked out and we are going to put a ceramic spray on his to see if it prevents it

 

How far out west? If he was riding in the areas affected by the wild fires, could be damage from ash. Ash can be very acrid and affects paint. May be reaching on this one, but when I lived on the west coast and did a lot of detailing, I often saw paint with damage from fallout.

 

He was as far a wyoming. Never had any ash sitting on it

 

Wash, clay if needed, polish a test spot. Have no idea what it could be, but that's the approach I would take

 

Get some polishing compound and see if that does anything if not it should be a warranty issue.

" blacked out paint was stained " ... are you talking about matte black finish ? ... Be very careful how you go about working with matte finishes

 

Good point Uncle Larry. I didn't know CVO had matte paint if that's the case.

 

Are you talking polish or compound? 2 different products. Not good practice to go straight into compounding. Test spot - test spot- test spot
