Default 2010 Ultra Limited Gauges on 2009 SG

I have read a couple of posts about horror stories in switching out the gauges on various years. Are there any known issues with putting 2010 gauges on a 2009? Thanks in advance.

Nope there is no issue. You need patience as you need to take a lot a part to do it, but it can be done. CVO Spun Aluminum Gauges in my '09 Ultra. ( I did the work myself, like I said, pretty straight forward, just need some patience and some mechanical skills.)

No issue using new gauges but speedometers mate to the ECM. Once a speedometer mates, it will only work with that ECM. The other gauges will work fine but not the speedo.

Stop giving me ideas! I really don't care for the silver faces on my street glide.

I'm not sure why I never considered disassembling the gauges and swapping the faces and needles... Hmm. How do the small gauges come apart, same as the speedo and tach?

I bought mine new. All I had to do was enter the mileage when I ordered it, so that it had the correct mileage on it. No issue at all with the speedo.

That's why I made the comment about new being fine. The OP said 2010 gauges on a 2009. I wanted to make sure he wasn't trying to use used gauges from a 2010. They wont work.

I just replaced my speedo on my 08 and it came with a special cable to sync it to my ecm through the data port and it read the ecm and set the mileage to the new speedo. After a certain amount of miles, it permanently locked to the ecm.

All work fine except the speedo which won't sync with the ECM. Got it. That is what I was looking for.

Thanks
