Montana or Bust! Where to go next week? Any input?
I have always wanted to ride to Montana and next week I'm just taking off from Cheese land and heading to Montana for about a week. I don't have any plan yet. I am planning on riding Bear tooth Hwy. I was in the Cody area 3 years ago. I went up Big Horn Mountain then west to Yellowstone Park. This time I want to spend my time in Montana. I just did a search and found out about the 25th annual ******** Festival in Missoula. This might be something I might have to check out.
If anyone can recommend some great places to ride I would appreciate it.
Thank
Mark

The Going to the Sun and Beartooth Highways spring to mind.
Ride there on US 2, skip the interstate.
Stop at Little Bighorn 60 out from Billings and say Hi to Custer.
If the Montana State Fair is playing in Great Falls when you get there just keep on moving. There will be a slim to no chance of getting a room.

There is a chance the Going to the Sun road is not completely open still. Check before you head out. When I was in Yellowstone last year one of the park rangers we talked to told us it was still closed. We were planning on going up there, but stayed in Yellowstone longer.

I got back to my home in Texas from my trip to Glacier last week. Going to the Sun Roadin Glacier National Park ISOPEN and quite impressive. I rode the following passes for those interested: In New Mexico- Raton Pass, Cuchara Pass, Wolfe Creek Pass.Colorado-Million Dollar Hwy and Red Mounatin Pass just north of Durango, Rock Mountain National Park Pass, Utah-Flaming Gorge, Wyoming-Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Hwy. What a trip in 11 days, 4800 miles. Most enjoyable 11 days of my life.
My favorite was Rocky Mountain in Colorado.
