Default Which bike to buy

I am looking at buying my first Harley and looking cat two bikes
first one is an Electra glide ultra 2005 with 6500 miles on it for 10k.
second one is an Electra Glide ultra limited CVO 2012 with 34000 miles on it for 13500
any thoughts? Pros and cons? Thanks.

Go CVO. Newer chassis and not a lot to add to it. If it's been maintained, the mileage should not be an issue.

CVO. $10,000 is ridiculous price for a 2005, even with low miles. The CVO has better everything.

The CVO has a 110" engine in it. Mine was a hot running bike. Good in cool weather bad in hot weather. The 110 has a some of issues that could of already been addressed. The lifters being on top of the list. The 2005 had issues like valve seals also Ride them both and go with your gut.

IMHO....

Based on Blackbook Powersports, the prices on a 2005 ElectraGlide Classic EFI are:

Year: 2005
Make: Harley-Davidson
Model: FLHTCI Electra Glide Classic
Model Type: Cruiser
Displacement: 1450
Cylinders: 2
VIN: 1HD1FFW15
Finance Advance: $4,480
MSRP: $17,645
Avg Retail: $5,335
Auction Wholesale $4,440
Clean Trade: $4,245
Fair Trade: $3,660

That 2005 owner is asking for a stupid, high price on his bike... he's delirious... The fact that he is so out of touch with his asking price, suggests he's most likely very uninformed about Harley motorcycles, and I would be wary of his service/repair choices .....pass on that one completely..

The CVO prices are:

Year: 2012
Make: Harley-Davidson
Model: FLHTCUSE7 CVO Ultra Classic EG
Model Type: Cruiser
Displacement: 1802
Cylinders: 2
VIN: 1HD1PR81C
Finance Advance: $11,500
MSRP: $37,249
Avg Retail: $13,395
Auction Wholesale $11,245
Clean Trade: $10,670
Fair Trade: $9,490

At least the second bike owner is "in the ballpark" on his asking price....

As always, condition and maintenance are the differences between a money pit and a good, reliable bike...

Check it out well, and the more documentation of service/repairs the owner has, the better...

Offer him $12K if it's in real good condition, there is a documented repair/service history, and the owner seems to be knowledgeable about his bike... If any of those 3 are missing, and you really, really like the bike, offer him $10K...

Good luck with the search..
