Default RE: Wind Turbulance on Road Glide

I used to get a bit of annoying buffet after 72+MPH on my '06 RG. I put the ClearView windshield on and it took care of almost all of it. I'll get lowers eventually but only to extend the riding year for early spring and late fall. (That wind gets cold on the legs!!!)

Clearview with an air vent and all turbulance is gone, I am 6'1", use a 13 inch recurve. My bike came with the air dam thing under the front fork tree, I'm sure that helps, never had it off.

Notice I said turbulence, I still have airflow, plenty at speeds above 65. about 85 I note the air starts to hit the top of my helmet. I use a 1/2 helmet sometimes, with that I use goggles, glasses never worked for me, to much air on my eye, even when it was an Electraglide.

There is more airflow around the sides of the RG fairing as compared to an EG fairing.

Like Bobby says, get you some lowers. I added mine & usually ride with just a cap on backwards. NP clear up to around 80 mph. These are the Hogg Chopps lowers not factory.

Thanks for all the input. I am 6'1" and am getting more critters over the top of the shield than I've had with my other bikes so have been looking at windshields. The Clearview with vent looks good. I haven't decided whether to try the 2" or 3" over stock. I appreciate theClearview endorsement and all the other suggestions. Thanks again.

Sharp looking RG, kt. That chrome windscreen trim looks really nice on that black.

http://www.hoggchopps.com/hoggInstall.htm

If I read it right..... it sayes $329, painted factory color(s).

That is significantly cheaper than factory $$$'s.

They seem to be good quality, there empty on the back & don't have any vents, but so are the factory units for the RG. Have about 3k miles on them & no problems, real nice out on the hiway, didnt seem to notice anything around town till it got up to 100 here last week & then I decided it was to hot to ride anyway. Been in Alaska the week before & got spoiled.
