Default Factory Touring Shocks on Road Glide?

2020 Road Glide which I love as much if not more than my '07 I had a few years back. I love everything about it, except the ride. I find the ride harsh and rough and I haven't found a spot on the adjuster that works for me, so I'm looking for an "upgrade".

I don't want to mortgage the house to put a suspension on the new ride so I was wondering if putting the stock suspension from the Road Glide Limited would be a viable option. I haven't priced them but surely they'd be cheaper than something from Olins (SP?) or Progressive or Legend....

Just to get this out of the way, I didn't want a Limited. LOL

Anxious to hear your thoughts. Thanks for reading, and ride safe,

All I'll say is that the stock shocks on the limited are better than the than the shocks on the RGS but not by much....

Couldn't be any worse. LOL

You are likely correct. I was looking at a more budget friendly solution. I'm thinking the stock HD shocks might be relatively close in price to something from Progressive?

$2300 later, my SGS rides like a 900# BMW RT. IMO spend the money and enjoy the ride.

Using the Limited shocks would be an incremental improvement at best. And I definitely wouldn't spend the money on a new pair from H-D. If you feel you must use those, find a used take-off set, there should be lots available. Check the classifieds on this forum for starters.

If money is an issue now, save up for a while until you can afford one of the better options available; plenty of info on brands to check out on the forum.

I agree with Rich. I'll eventually upgrade my shocks and I think the only way to to do it is to spend the money and go for the gold. Otherwise, you'll always be a little disappointed. At least I know I would be. The difference between the RGS and RGL shocks wouldn't be enough to make me happy.

Guess it depends who you are, what you expect and how much you ride. I've ridden 120,000 miles the last six years on the 12" & 13" Harley adjustable shocks. I sit my butt on quality seats though.

I feel the 13" Harley shocks would be a good improvement over the 12". I keep my 13" set at zero on my dressers! I'm 225lbs and ride solo most of the time.

Good luck...

It's a shame we have to upgrade the suspension on a $30,000 bike. I went with Pro Action, right about $800.

I just got the DK Custom Bitubo shocks for my 2020 SG for $525 and even though they aren’t broke in yet, the ride is considerably better. They set them up for you. So far I haven’t adjusted them but they have compression and rebound adjustments. Get the 13in, barely sits higher. I have noticed that the front needs help now.
Definitely worth it to me.
