New Street Glide Question
Hi everybody,I just purchased a new 07 Street Glide. This is the 5th harley I have owned. Here is my question.I am the most **** SOB with my toys especially my harleys.I always detail them a couple times a week, watch where I park it etc...(its a horrible disease i have) Anyway,I am always very carefull during break in not to lug the engine. My bike just hit 100 miles when I was driving in front of my neighbors house and he yelled for me to stop so he could check out my new black cherry babe.Well when I stopped I did not shift down to 1st gear.So when I took off,my brand new scoot was in 2nd gear.Im still sick over it.Please some one make me feel better.Im worried I screwed the motor up or now I wont get the full life expectancy out of it.Has any one else ever done that on a new motor?I told you guys Im very **** with it..So far this is my favorite Harley I have owned.I never want to get off of this thing. Thanks in advance,Ray

RE: New Street Glide Question
Dude are you serious??? If it breaks or screws something up that easily, you don't want or need it!!!!! It'll be fine. I'm on my 5thas well; 2 Sporties, an FXR, a Road King, and my new Street Glide.I, like most of us, have done the same thing, similar, or worseon a newbike.Don't sweat it. If that's the worse thing you ever do, you'll be in good shape for a long time.Take it easy, but don't *****-foot around with it for a few hundred, then ride it like you mean it. Break it in like you'll really be riding. The time to discover somethingis out oforderis when you're "local", not road tripping on a fresh new scoot!!!! Ride and enjoy it today, there is no guarantee of tomorrow. For what it's worth, one of the first things Idid tomy"old" Road King, and my new Street Glide, was take that damned heel shifter off. I HATE those things, theyjust don't feel "natural", at least to me anyway.
