WHIM Labor Costs

You can save on the WHIM module by buying from Surdyke or Big Sky. For the price of the WHIM you should get free shipping.
As a first step you should go to H-D's on-line store, pull up the WHIM and look at the install Instructions.
If you are putting in the WHIM, you might want to consider getting a duel pack of the 30K (or the new 50K) H-D/Sena headsets at the same time to save even a bit more $$$$.
If you have the dealer install the WHIM, you will be paying full price plus tax and probabaly at least a 2 hours Labor charge.

That's not extremely high, that's criminal. That price should include the cost of the WHIM.

I was thinking that removal of the outer fairing was basically all I'd need to disassemble, but I see these steps in the install guide:
3. Remove tank. See service manual.
4. Remove backbone main wire harness trough cover.
Do we really need to remove the tank ?
And where is the "main wire harness trough cover" located ?

The tank on these new road glides is easy. 4 bolts, disconnect the quick connect fuel line, and one vent hose and lift it off. The wire harness trough cover sits on top of the frame below the tank and has a few areas where it fastens together but basically just lift it off. Probably has tape in a few spots if a brand new bike and hasn't been opened before. After owning several previous harleys, I absolutely love the RG more than any previous when it comes to working on it.
