I have the Wally's and in my opinion its worse, fogs on humid days never mind washing it!! Also after talking with the company the two sending units are not compatible, so u may be able to use the same wiring but not the sender!!
I hate to say it Ted but I rode a Gold Wing for 13 years and I had the same type of service from almost all of the Honda shops I visited. Ended up doing my own work on it too.
The McEwen oil temp gauge on my 01 Ultra is the only one that doesn't fog up. I ride in all weather, so I'm used to it. Who needs to see the other gauges, anyway?
I had a gauge in my plane that did the same thing. Replaced it under warranty 3 times until the shop finally realized that the sticker on back of the gauge covered the breather hole which equalizes the air from inside the gauge to the outside air temp. The drill a small hole idea that Dawg mentioned may do the trick.

Actually, my first accessory was the service manual. I do my own service on all my vehicles unless we're talking deep inside the engine - then, I'll let the shop do it. I bought the wing for the comfort factor - my wife has spinal arthritus and the GW is the first bike I have owned which she can ride any distance on. The Ultra is too cramped for the passenger to suit my wife - plus, I don't have to rebuild the engine to get the power I like. To each his own. Btw, it's a rare bike (no matter what brand) whose gauges don't leak or develop some kind of film on the inside - usually right after the warranty expires. The gas gauge on the HD should be replaced with a flower pot - it would then have a purpose.
