I wouldn't even spit on a Dunlop, They aren't worth even that [:'(]
So what is so bad about Dunlops that would provoke you to say this? I have no problem with my tires. They run true fast or slow, dry pavement, wet pavement, grooved roads, rough roads. I got close to ten thousand milesoutta' my last rear. My front is running perfect ontwenty two thousand. They are good tires.

I got 12000 out of my rear tire and only had to replace because of a cut. 18000 on front still going. Running Dunlops. No problems.

I look at it this way.

If you had a blow out at 70MPH using brand X and the MOCO designed the rim to fit onlybrand Y or a tire company didn't make their tire fit the MOCO rim properly, the product liability would be huge. Both the MOCO and the tire companies have teams of attorneys who try to watch out for this stuff. If it was an issue it would be under the long list of Do's and Don'ts in the owners manual. They wouldn't be relying on some service writer somewhere to get the word out.

I say BS!

BullCh!t!

That's what they say to keep you buying the OEM stuff. The replacement tires are just as good as the OEM's. Buy the Dunlops because you like them not because they tell you that they are a "special fit".

Ps. The sales manager probably gets a kick back from Dunlop for replacement tires.

And to furtherblmoore20's point - the dealers would not carry Metzs, which they do. And now what about Michelin (which is probably solely due to the strike - I for 1 could not find a 'Lop in the spring and switched to Metz and wont look back - smart move strikin and losing a customer Dunlop).

Its much like Goodyear and NASCAR...the exclustivity is billed for competition purposes but lets not kid ourselves, the check NASCAR receives from Goodyear and the 1 HD at least used to receive from Dunlop to be the official tire was good business.

Metz and Avon have good reps as great cycle tires and if everytime someone had a blow-out on 1 it caused a wreck, I think that would be common knowledge among us riders and no one would buy them.

This one is pure fiction. You owe it to yourself to try the Metz.

I've ran Dunlops for over 15 years with no problems, never used a Metz so can't comment on that. Michelins? I wouldn't put them on my granddaughters' bicycles! Every Michelin I've ever had has separated before the tread wore out! Granted, I've never used them on a motorcycle but if their automotive tires are that bad I'm sure not gonna take a chance on two wheels!

I've loved Metzelers and run them on a couple different bikes. But I was stuck having to go with a Dunlop WWW for the rear this last time and to be honest I really am happy with the treadwear i'm getting. I may go with a Dunlop in front too when that's due.

Fiction. I ran a flat rear Metzler ME880 at least 1/4 mile to get off the interstate to the truck stop and it stayed on the rim.
