So, you can guess what my recommendation will be. 😁
He is looking at an M8 not a "B" motor bike..all M8's are counter-balanced

Well the 12 was sold before I got there. Rode the 07 and liked it but did not buy. I knew they got a new frame in 09, but did not know it was longer. Where was the length added?

The newer frame is stiffer for handling, but I've heard people say ride suffers.

Me, any 07 to 09 I would avoid for compensator and input shaft trans bearing failures

The trans bearing is new, no one has mentioned that before. To me anyway. The compensator, seems like it spanned many more years than those. There is also issues of the cam tensioner. All but the transmission bearing were known before I went to test.

Seems all bike have some issues. The new M8s had the oil sumping problem, that apparently cost HD a few engines, so I figure any used vehicle can have issues. Its always buyer beware.

I wonder if those trans bearing failures had anything to do with too much tension on the chains? Too much side load.

I was pleasantly surprised with the handling of that 07. It felt a lot lighter than I expected it too.

You have an older bike, how long do your rear tires last. I know in 09 they went larger, and that probably helped tire life, just wondering if older bikes tires wore out too quick?

Well, "B" motor or M8, I don't care for counter balanced motors.

They're ALL B motors after the Twin Cam A; "B" stands for "balanced". I'd take a Twin Cam A platform over ANY M8; Harley is still developing the M8 with the help of cuckstomers

i had an 07 CVO Ultra and loved it. Put some Michelin Commanders on it and tour away. Tire wear is about the same.

Well I decided. Getting ready to do paperwork on a 2014 Ultra Classic. I know its a "none of the above" but the price was right. Thanks for the feedback
