Sorry, what little faith I have in HD products ends at the end of the 2013 model year.

I'd take an 11 over a 14 any day of the week.

 

If it were me Id be taking a hard look at the 2014, Better fairing, better wind control, better saddle bags, and much better radio

 

Keep looking at those prices. $7500 and maybe $12k respectively is my price on those. They are out there and this is a buyers market.

Looks likes this Saturday I will finally be able to get out and look at the two bikes I'm interested in. They have both been on the market for over 60 days so I would think the sellers would be neg on the price. Asking price for the 2011 with 40K miles is $9K and the 2014 with 19K miles is $13,400.

 

The extra bucks for the '14 is well worth the money. The Rushmore improvements make an ElectraGlide a far nicer bike.

There are a few things with the '11 that only a mechanic can check - the wheel bearings are likely due for change - I'd like a close look at the compensator - it's unlikely but possible that the cam chain tensioner is getting thin - I could go on but these are all just general maintenance items than can be expensive and are far less likely to be an issue with a 19K bike.

If you can get the 2014 for ~ $12k, it's a far better deal.

All the Rushmore changes (fairing, bags, 49mm forks, radio, CANbus, etc), plus half the miles of the 2011.

Not to mention, aside from the High Output cam difference, that 103" engine in each bike are pretty well apples to apples comparison.

 

What do you have now to compare it to?

 

My 2011 ultra limited had the crank runnout go bad at 51,000 miles. The front wheel bearing went at 40,000 miles. While i had motor out i saw the compensator was bad. Repaied everything and wouldn’t trade for a new bike even up.

 

Right now I'm riding an Adventure bike - Honda Africa twin. My last HD was an 04 Road Glide I sold it in 2011 with 65K miles on it. I recently rode my brother's 2019 Road Glide. I think I would be happy with either a 2011 or a 2012. Both the bikes I'm going to look at tomorrow have been on the market for over 60 days. 2011 is listed for $9K and 2014 $13,500. I think they both are over priced for todays market.

This will be my 3rd bike in my garage I plan to ride it about 7K miles per year

 

So are both bikes limited? I had a 11 limited that always was a hot bike to ride. Tried a removing the cats and a stage 1 still ran hot. Traded it on a 15 limited the water cooling has made the bike a pleasure to ride. No need for a stage 1 to cool it down. The 15 has been a great bike, 35,00 miles so far. I'd go for the 2014. Less miles also.
