Hi all,
I hadn't heard off any Chrome recall so went to Avon's web site and here is the size tire affected.

AVON COBRA CHROME

240/50R16 AT 6D 28 1418 -- 2119

I know both my tires had current dates. The front went on Dec 2019. I'll get the dates and edit.....goldie

Hi All,

As a follow up I went with the Avon Cobra Chromes. I have just over 500 miles on them. They are very sticky and connect to all types of pavement nicely. I think I found the tire for me. Thanks for all the advice!

Try buying a Commander III 180/65 B16 was impossible for me to find in my search. Out of Stock everyplace. I finally ordered a CIII for my front and CII at a discount from J&P Cycle. Haven't worn out the Avons yet, on my 11 FLHTK I couldn't find out why, but most likely C19 related?

What do you think I just found this picture? It was my tire and with the help of my local Hd dealer I got a full refund from Michelin, they did not cover the labor to install. They know they had a problem with these tires. My dealer said he has problems with both the Michelin Commanders !! and the scorchers with separation. I was the first to get my money back as far as he know, because I called the company direct. As far as handling they were very good. I don't know for sure but this tire had about 5000 to 10000 miles on it. I may try the commander 111's see what happens.

That is why I asked the question. You post a picture with an ambiguous statement then offer no details or clarification, then follow up 6 weeks later? I have personally run Commander II's for 15,000 miles (10,000 on first, 5,000 on current with dyno time) and have no issues nor have I ever heard of these "problems" Friends have run them longer than me. You don't know how many miles were on the tire, just a range of 5000 to 10000 miles?

What were the circumstances of the separation, did you just notice it one day, feel it while touring? What bike did you have them on?

I am currently replacing my back tire for the same reason. I have always run Dunlop 402 WWW with good results. Two seasons ago I decided to try the Dunlop Elite. I have about 18000 Km on it and it is bald and serval long cracks down the centre just like yours. Not impressed one bit.

I run spokes and the WWW look the best on my bike so not many choices out there for tires. Going back to the Dunlop 402. Would be nice if other tire companies made a WWW.
