Rush 1.75" baffles finally came in
I replaced the 2.25" baffles in my Rush slip ons with 1.75's tonight. Happy to say I got the lower end back w/o compromising anything else except noise. Kind of nice to hear the wind again at freeway speeds, but still hear the pipes when running through the gears.
I ran the 2.25's for about 10,000 miles, andI gotta tell ya, the RH baffle was junk when it came out. The wrapping had splitin numerous places, which explains why the bike barked so loud and sounded like a jake brakewhen letting off the throttle. I was also surprised tofind the wrapping on the baffles is held in place with regular old masking tape, which had completley burned off on the RH baffle.I reinforced it with high tempaluminum duct tape on the new baffles, hopefully that will keep it together longer. I'm also hoping the combination of the stage 1 download, stock air cleaner and smaller baffles richens it up a bit. Time and new plugs will tell...

I have the 2.0's which are perfect for me, I was thinking the Rush pipes didn't even have baffles..shows what I know....When I was looking at them, the sales guy had a display set and showed me the the worm gear effect - but his displays were straight through to the sunshine..after I bought a set I just slipped em on and never even looked for a baffle.

I ran 2" in mine for about 1500 miles, and while they sounded extremely good in town the noise got to be too much on long trips. I replaced them with 1.5" about 800 miles ago and when I pulled the 2" out the masking tape on the RH muffler had already disintegrated. The fiberglass mat still looked good- it was black, but in good shape. The LH baffle was barely browned and the tape was still intact.
I like the 1.5" a lot better, especially now that they're starting to burn in a little. They bark when you get on it, still sound like a Harley at idle & rowing through the gears, but are much quieter at highway speeds.

Maybe my hearing is already messed up. I have the 2" baffle on mine, around town (below 50 mph) I can hear them and they sound the way I want. At highway speed, I don't hear them over the wind noise unless I crack it open. No helmet at present, working on carbon 1/2 helmet.
