When I went to pick the bike up, my buddy had the bike on the charger. he connected the charger positive to positive and negative to negative. Said to didn't charge at all. He said he looked at the directions on his charger and it said to connect the negative charge clamp to the frame or body. I've never heard of a charger like that. Could that have fried the ECM?

Sparks near a battery can be dangerous, especially if the battery has just been under a load.
Connecting the charger cables to the battery posts would not damage the ecm.

I emailed Thunder-Max and they said that I can mail it to them and they will check it out, but they are working from home right now and might be a few weeks before I get an answer. They also said that I can take it to a certified installer and most of them have the capability to run a diagnostic on them. Other then that, I have no idea what to do. This is why I ride a dyna haha. less wires, less problems.

So I just realized that I can plug my thunder max into my computer. I was hoping that maybe it just needed an update. Or even reset. I downloaded the thunder max program and attempted to plug the thunder max into my computer but it won’t establish a connection. Found some videos online about “initializing” the thunder max after the battery has been disconnected. So I go through the process of 20 seconds ignition one and 20 seconds ignition off. But still no connectivity.

It’s not my bike. I run a 15 street bob. I barrow my buddies 09 street glide for my longer trips. He bout it used two years ago. As far as I can tell, the previous owner put in a thundermax, and Rinehart slip ons. I used it last May for a ride to Illinois from PA and had no issues. He rode it a few times the following fall and again in January on a random nice day. No issues at all. I go to pick it up to do the oil and general service for my upcoming Illinois run, turn the ignition to ride it to the tailer and nothing. No fuel or spark. Everything lights up. Radio works. Security system works.
