This just keeps getting better and better So. I bought a battery tray from a 96 flhtc to put the battery under the seat. So my battery is 8 inches long. And because of my oil tank, I only have 7 inches of space to work with under the seat. So I figured im gonna narrow the battery tray down to 8 inches to match my battery. What I THINK I can get away with is to bring my oil tank Outward 1 inch. Now I can either keep my oil cover out a inch from the frame or just trim the opening on the cover for the oil cap. Im excellent at welding and fabricating. But since the house I bought doesn't have a garage yet, my option is ,work outside, or bring it to work where it would be more efficient. My battery WILL fit in this space once I get it squared away. Didnt figure in my oil tank being in the way when I was figuring this out. Oh well its a process. Once I get things lined up. I will get pictures of all this and post up how Im doing it all.

i sometimes miss my '89. 80 inch evolution, still what i consider one of their best engines and nice sounding. damn near bullet proof and easy to modify. i have since moved through a TC 96 and now my 2019 eglide standard. the evo was simple to work on and maintain. the electrical diagnostic manual is bigger than the service manual i had for my '89

Why not just get a lithium battery? I believe they are a lot smaller.

You are not kidding Broke C7. Back then - I knew every nut and bolt on my 89 and it was easy and simple to repair and modify...

I suspect you will find there as many solutions to this challenge are there members who have tackled it! I also bought a later battery tray, but ended up making one from scratch. I used a Lithium battery similar in shape to a Sporty one, to get it in alongside the oil tank. I also have an S&S 107" so wanted plenty of cranking power.

I narrowed the battery tray down to 8 1/8 inches wide. To match my battery. I tried looking online for a picture, any picture of an oil tank for a 96 electraglide. I cant find one. Am i missing something here? They have one, correct? If it wasnt for the rain and storm here in Arp, id be out there working on it. Anyway heres some pics of the tray so far.

If I'm wrong I'm sorry about that - But here is a Pic of a used 1996 Trans, the oil Tank is underneath it. The Later Evo's and all motors up to today switched to that setup. The Earlier Evo's had the side mounted oil bag on the frame.
