RE: thundermax computer help
The Dynex DX-UBDB9 USB to Serial adapter definitely works. Make sure that none of the little din pins have gotten bent on your USB to Serial cable. The USB to Serial cable has to have a driver CD or you'll be SOL. Make sure you are plugging it into the correct SERIAL port on the back of the computer too.

Just guessing here, but I'll bet you can initialize it and run it the way it is IF there was already a base map installed. That's if you really want to ride tomorrow. You won't be able to do any tweaking or monitoring, but if the base map is close you should be OK.

Ditch the Sony Vaio and take a desktop out to the garage. Should be boatloads in your neighborhood cause everyone these days has 2or 3 old pc's round here. Take the other cable back to Bext Buy, hook the original up to the desktop in the garage, and your golden. Thats some serious advice if your laptop is having issues. Be sure to read the manual a couple times and don't skip any sections.

RE: thundermax computer help
I went with the dynex from best buy. I got the driver downloaded fine. Checked Device Manager on teh computer and it says that it is working fine. Checked that it is running on com4 and tried to check it manually. Get timeout message noted above where I can retry or abort. All connections seem tight. ???????????????

RE: thundermax computer help
Hey gilbos440rt,
My Thundermax is a pretty new model integrated with the autotune and wide band sensors (thanks shooter by the way!) The instructions I had were from April and they suggested running IAC auto and then manually adjusting the mapped points before and after the initial temps recorded. The latest instructions on the website site suggest running IAC Auto but not manually adjusting the mapped points. When I talked to tech support about my popping on decel issue this week I was of the opinion that part of the problem may lie with stock headers (I have slips ons with stock pipes) ..also the rush pipes are a little different in that they don't technically have baffles bit instead use a worm screw style chamber which may be causing issues with back pressure. So, the suggestion I was given was to not run IAC Auto and instead let the 02's simply determine idle compensation and then ride it to let the sensors and electronics adjust for the pipes.
I cleared all of my setting out today morning rode about 80 miles with 4 on/offs...the decel popping does seem to be decreasing. I'll have to get more miles on it to see how it adjusts long term.

Is the IAC thing just on 07's or have they changed it for all the previous year also?
