Are you satisfied with your Street Glide Purchase?

RE: Are you satisfied with your Street Glide Purchase?
I totally love my bike. I ride as often as I can and when I'm not riding, I'm thinking about riding. It handles great on the highway, going long distances or just cruising around town. I've got alot into my bike and I'm gonna put alot more into it. My bike is my hobby, favorite transportation and stress relief.

Rent one for a weekend and see. However, maybe a Heritage Classic might fit your mixed requirements a bit better, easy to strip the windshield and bags and have a softail for daily use.
Love my Glide, but if I could afford two, I'd have a stripped down softail for bashing around town by myself and keep the Glide for longer rides and touring with my wife.

I went from an FXRS to the Street Glide and while I miss the old girl occassionally, I haven't looked back. Ilove my Street Glide and I rode it daily in downtown DC since I used it for commuting almost year round. You really can't go wrong with any of the touring models offered by Harley. It really comes down to the extras you want out the door. No radio and detachable windshield- go Road King. Radio and permanent fairing- get a Glide that offers the most gear you think you'd acutally use.
I liked the Street Glide from the moment I saw it. I just don't like all the trim or the passing lamps on the other Glides, but that's just me.

I actually test rode the Ultra with the wife and then the SG. Believe it or not we got the SG. We liked it better. The bars on the Ultra seemed too close to me. I am tall with long arms. I put cruise on the SG. I realize you can get an Ultra and take the pak off and basically have an SG but it isn't the same. I didn't think about that when I got the SG since I was new to Harleys. Would I change now? No. I also put lowers on the SG. Since I did the work my self I paid no labor for any of it and used zanottis so I got the cheaper price. It is a looker and I like that.

I traded in my sportster for a 2006 SG. After riding out to Sturgis, my wife encouraged the trade up. Absolutely love it. Handles well, tons of power compared to the sportster, two up riding can not even compare. I have slowly been adding on to my bike as we travel more often and further away from Wisconsin. I can understand why others have mentioned buying right into the Ultra, I test drove the Ultra and it seemed a lot more top heavy. I felt much more comfortable going with the SG after the Sportster. Good luck and enjoy.

I voted "very satisfied," but in reality the stock SG was an imperfect but good foundation for me to build on. No model HD makes is perfect for me right out of the box, but I think the SG is as close as any to an ideal starting point. After adding a host of accessories like cruise control, quick-release Tour Pak, a real windshield, saddlebag guards, a seat that won't give you monkey butt in one hour of riding, and decent rear shocks--it is not only a fine cruiser but very road-worthy as well. I don't think you'll be disappointed, nor will you look back and wish you hadn't moved in that direction.
