That's why helmets are a good idea. Something that ended up not being a big deal could have killed you had you not been wearing your helmet. Glad to hear that your ok.

Glad you are OK. I did a similar situation a few weeks ago admiring my gauges lite up at night. Wasn't paying attention for just a few seconds and near catasrophe.

Helmets Gloves are a good idea.

Keep two on the ground

Been there, done that.

Once, I was following a dump truck, styling and profiling, not paying attention, looked up and the truck had stopped! Hit my brakes, laid the bike on its left side, slid up almost under the truck. Never hit it. I don't think my head hit the pavement, but I alsways hear a helmet anyway. He drove off (I reckon he never saw me back there). I got up, picked the bike up, thanked the Lord I was okay and drove on home. Never again has it happened. After that, I kept my eyes to the front and paid attention.

It was a good attitude adjustment and a lesson learned.

Good news is good news Parakller. Were you wearing leathers, gloves, boots? 1/2 helmet, full or 3/4? 30-round mags are like armor if you stuff 'em in your pockets!

Hack, I DEFINATELY learned a valuable lesson here. When I rode in this morning I was definately paying more attention and feeling less bulletproof. I think that I will be looking into an ABS system here before too long....

Get well soon. Some riders aint that lucky. In one month Ive had two close calls that I couldn't control or avoid. One a cage coming at me head on in my lane and second a deer ran right out in front of me at night. Somethings are definetly in God's hands.

Very glad to hear it wasn't worse. Even @ low speed... we loose EVERY TIME with something as big as a SEMI.

I am also glad to see you are in good spirit!

Heal quick!

Glad to hear you're okay, which is the main thing! Just a question for clarification -when you lay down a Road King, the crash bars block the damage almost fully? Sounds like your damage was fairly minor.

If your helmet took a good whack you may want to consider replacing it. Cheap insurance...
