RE: tried to trade today
Why do we keep saying that we are getting screwed? We all know the price of the new bike and we know how to look up the trade-in value of our trade so when that all works out, how is it a screwing? Sure we would like to think that we stole the new bike but the fact is that we are buying what we want and, if we buy it, are willing to pay the price. It only hurts for a little while.

RE: tried to trade today
The "good old days" are gone forever.......when demand exceeded supply and model year changes were tank decals and colors....and we either lost a tiny bit, traded even, or sold our bikes for more than we paid for them.
Obviously, the demand for '06 and later bikes is very low. But opportunities abound because of this.......especially if you can find a low mileage model you are wanting and have the resources to "improve" it....like going to gear driven cams, better flowing heads, increasing displacement and adding a six-speed gearset.
Plus, you can choose the EFI, new or enhanced. It's getting what you want!
Sometimes new isn't always better...............just my 2 cents.

According to the H-D website, a Vivid Black RKC is $18,290 (incl freight). Sounds like a trade allowance of $13,290, which seems about right. They'll probably price your bike at $15,995 ... certainly no more than $16,495.
You can try to sell the bike yourself, maybe getting $14,000 to $14,500 ... after screwing with dozens of people who will waste more time than it's worth. Plus you give up the tax credit on the trade in.
Sounds likea decent deal to me. 08's are hot (pun not intended) ... if you don't buy it, the next customer through the door will.
